Cybersecurity Breaches are Top Risks for India Inc: FICCI-EY Survey
Within the Indian enterprise landscape, technology-related risks are now fundamentally tied to operational continuity and strategic resilience. According to a joint study by FICCI and EY, cybersecurity breaches have emerged as the paramount operational threat facing corporate India in 2026.
According to a recent FICCI-EY study, 51% of senior business leaders identified cybersecurity breaches as their primary concern for 2026. The FICCI-EY Risk Survey ranked changing customer demands (49%) and geopolitical developments (48%) as the second and third most significant business risks, respectively.
The report is based on responses from 137 senior decision-makers and CXOs across multiple sectors, with the technology sector representing the largest share of respondents at 21%, followed by professional services.
Key findings include:
- Digital & Cyber Vulnerabilities: 61% of respondents reported that rapid technological change and digital disruption are impacting their competitive position. An equal proportion (61%) identified cyberattacks and data breaches as major threats to their financial and reputational standing.
- Internal Threats & Complexity: 57% cited potential data theft and insider fraud as significant risks, while 47% acknowledged difficulty in mitigating increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
- The Artificial Intelligence Paradox: AI has emerged as a dual risk area for corporate India, presenting both opportunities and vulnerabilities. While 54% of respondents stated that AI-related ethical and governance challenges are not being managed effectively, 60% noted that inadequate adoption of emerging technologies, including AI, could hinder operational efficiency.
- Regulatory Compliance: On the regulatory front, 67% emphasized the need to address compliance challenges proactively, whereas 40% admitted their existing compliance frameworks struggle to keep pace with evolving regulations.
Overall, these findings underscore that technology-related risks are now intrinsically linked to operational continuity and long-term business resilience.
