AI Adoption: How to Move from Curiosity to Business Outcomes

When it comes to AI adoption, many businesses struggle to get their AI transformations right; they fail to achieve ROI even after making substantial investments in AI tools and infrastructure. Raj Goodman Anand, the founder of AI-First Mindset tells us why this failure is happening and how to get AI transformations right.

We are aware about the potential of AI and agents, and how this technology can save time and boost productivity. Yet, few entrepreneurs have embraced AI tools and leveraged those for their day-to-day operations.

“There is a conundrum when it comes to AI adoption. While AI labs see tremendous potential in AI and are investing heavily in the technology, small and medium businesses do not see benefits beyond ChatGPT. There is a lack of understanding about what is out there. And there is fear about AI replacing jobs. That dynamic means there is a bit of stifling of AI in the company. Business owners and executives have to get involved in pushing down AI within their companies,” said Raj Goodman Anand, the founder of AI-First Mindset.

Having trained over 11,000 professionals, Raj believes the biggest barrier to AI adoption is not knowledge but implementation. He encourages business leaders to take ownership of their AI strategy instead of outsourcing it, calling the latter one of the costliest mistakes organizations can make.

Raj is an investor in OpenAI, Anthropic and SpaceX. He is pursuing a PhD in AI and his involvement with AI research began more than two decades ago.

He also hosts The Goodman Podcast, featuring conversations with small and medium enterprises and sector thought leaders on AI technology and its future implications.

He is the founder of Goodman Lantern, a business-to-business content marketing agency serving more than 150 clients across five continents and over fifty countries.

Raj was also awarded BusinessWeek Europe’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2007 and was named one of Revolution Magazine’s 50 Most Influential People in Digital in 2009.

In this episode, Raj discusses:

  • What is holding back organizations from achieving ROI on AI;
  • Bridging the gap between unrealistic expectations and actual business need;
  • Driving a culture of awareness and education throughout the organization;
  • Examples of businesses that have succeeded with AI.
