Samsung launches Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge

Mumbai – March 8, 2016 – Samsung Electronics today announced the launch of its much-awaited flagship devices, Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, in the Indian market. Amongst many other path-breaking innovations, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge bring refined design language,advanced imaging capabilities, streamlined software functionality and unparalleled connectivity with a host of services and experiences.

Introducing the new devices, Mr. Manu Sharma, Director, Mobile Business, SamsungIndia Electronics said, Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will offer consumers the ultimate smartphone experience that set new benchmarks in the global mobile space, with cutting-edge design and extraordinary performance. Innovations such as Dual Pixel technology in Galaxy S7 & Galaxy S7 edge camera delivers brighter and sharper images, even in low light and Samsung Concierge offer more personalized experience for users.”

Innovating in India, for the world

Samsung R&D in India played a significant role in the development of the new devices, with many engineers involved in the expansion of the My Galaxy platform to cater to the needs of premium users in India with Samsung Concierge. The unique consumer engagement platform has been customized to offer valuable services such as My Assistant, Phone pick up and drop, Fast Track service and Live Chat.

The Indian R&D team also contributed to developing the Motion Panorama feature that will enable consumers to capture live events in great detail by capturing every piece of dynamic motion. Additionally, the Spotlight Selfie feature that provides consumers a studio-like environment with virtual light source, was developed in India.

Other features like Game Mode Power/Memory Saving Solutions, Enhanced Internet Browser, Voice over LTE, Enhanced Messaging, In-Car experience, Voice Interface, Gallery and Gear Manager have significant contribution by Indian R&D.

The India R&D team has expanded on the Open Theme platform that allows for a greater personalized experience allowing users to download from over a 2,000 diverse themes.

1. Unmatched design, streamlined for perfection

Galaxy S7 and S7 edge perfect the 3D Thermoforming process, which now brings metal and glass together seamlessly from every angle. Both the devices come with a thinner bezel and a larger immersive screen in the smallest possible frame, with a 5.5” sAMOLED Display for the Galaxy S7 edge and 5.1” display on the Galaxy S7.

The edge screen on the Galaxy S7 edge is now even more powerful and convenient, with quick access to Applications and content.

The new ‘Always on Display’ feature allows users to easily check for updates, without having to worry about unlocking the phone.

2. Life Proof – Built for rain, dust or even a shower

 With IP68 water and dust resistance, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge come with increased utility without compromising on the design. The devices can sustain up to 30 minutes submerged in a meter and a half of water.

3. Professional grade  Camera – High quality images no matter the time of day or place

Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge introduce the first Dual Pixel camera on a smartphone, delivering brighter and sharper images, even in low light. Thanks to the revolutionary Dual Pixel technology, brighter lens with wider aperture and bigger pixel; the camera has a more accurate autofocus even in low-light conditions. Motion Panorama, a new camera mode, brings movement to traditional panoramic photos, giving users a complete immersive visual experience.

 4. Advanced Performance – More power than you need

 Samsung has also made significant hardware and software updates to optimize gaming performance on Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. The powerful processor and battery ensure longer playing time, and the internal cooling system keeps the device from overheating.  Galaxy S7 and S7 edge come with 3000mAh & 3600mAh batteries, respectively. The Galaxy S7’s CPU is about 44 percent more powerful than its predecessor. Samsung has also added a dramatically enhanced GPU – which does the heavy lifting for graphics. This is about 60 percent more powerful than the one in Galaxy S6.

Gaming gets serious with the new Galaxy S7 & Galaxy S7 edge. Even the most graphic heavy games run ever so smoothly with significantly less lag and battery drain. The smartphones do not heat up easily, allowing gamers to keep their cool and focus on winning when the game heats up. The new flagships now have Game Launcher and Game Tools, which lets the user control everything from battery usage to interruptions.

Samsung’s latest advances in graphics set a new industry standard. Both Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are the first smartphones with Vulkan: the next generation graphics API that was brought to life in partnership between Samsung, Google and Khronos group. Price & Availability

Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are available at an attractive price of INR 48,900 (32 GB) and INR 56,900 (32 GB), respectively.

Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will be available in India starting from March 18, 2016 in Black Onyx, Gold Platinum and Silver Titanium colors. The pre-booking opens from March 8th for both the devices and continues till March 17, 2016. All customers who pre-book during this period will receive a Gear VR free with the device.

Samsung has partnered with Vodafone, which will offer twice voice and data for the first 6 months to select Vodafone Red plan customers.

Samsung is also offering multiple mobile accessories like Clear Cover, Battery Pack, Flip Wallet, LED View Cover, S View Cover, Clear View Cover and Wireless Charger Stand on the purchase of the new smartphones.
