To promote its products as services to consumers, Microsoft renamed the online version of Office to <strong>Microsoft 365.<\/strong> In doing so, Microsoft is sending a message to consumers that the ubiquitous Office Suite is more than a suite of Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint applications that office workers have become so accustomed to using. If you log in to your\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.office.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Microsoft 365 account<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0(Personal Edition) and look around, you\u2019ll see that your paid subscription gets you a lot more. In essence, there\u2019s 1 TB of OneDrive storage, To-Do (an organizer app), Skype, Sway (report generator), OneNote (for recording notes), Forms, Flow, Publisher, Access, and Calendar. And these apps can also be used on your tablet or phone. The Business \/ Enterprise editions include Microsoft Teams, which is immensely popular these days with remote workers.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Microsoft 365<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Microsoft 365\u2019s new Personal and Family subscriptions are replacing the existing Office 365 plans. The subscription prices remain unchanged.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-in\/p\/office-365-personal\/cfq7ttc0k5bf?activetab=pivot%3aoverviewtab\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Pricing for Indian consumers<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">: Microsoft 365 Personal costs Rs 4,199 (annual plan) or Rs 420 a month. Current Office 365 subscribers will automatically get upgraded to the new Microsoft 365 service.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/youtu.be\/AnSuASngwK8<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft is introducing some new features for Microsoft 365 for consumers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Access to over <strong>8,000 images<\/strong> and 175 looping videos, 300 fonts and 2,800 icons on PowerPoint Designer.<\/li>\n<li><strong>AI-powered creative tools<\/strong> such as monotone speech detection and speech refinement in PowerPoint\u2019s Presenter Coach feature.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Personal Finance<\/strong>: Money in Excel lets you manage, track and analyze your finances, but that\u2019s not available as of yet.<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft\u2019s new <strong>Family Safety<\/strong> app lets families track screen time across all their devices, and it\u2019s also not available yet. When it launches, the new Family Safety app will have a free offering as well.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Microsoft Teams<\/strong> is getting new consumer-focused features, too.<\/li>\n<li>OneDrive <strong>Ransomware detection <\/strong>and recovery.<\/li>\n<li>Virtual drive feature \u2013 <strong>OneDrive PC folder backup<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Wish list<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We are hoping that Microsoft makes some more enhancements and introduces more features. For instance, the Grammar Checker and Reviewing tools in Microsoft Word could do with some major improvements. Right now, Grammarly is better at the task (and our favorite). Grammarly can be integrated into Microsoft Word and is also available as a desktop app and browser extension.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft Excel could have better data visualization tools and dashboards \u2013 moving towards business intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>Now that Microsoft owns <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LinkedIn<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/learning\/subscription\/paid?src=pa-bi&amp;veh=sem_src.pa-bi_c.bng-lil-sem-b2c-brand-dr-apac-au-lang-en-biz-alpha-desktop-core-brand_pkw.linkedin%20learning_pmt.be_pcrid.80608038666708_pdv.c_trg.kwd-80608137302336:loc-9_net.s_learning&amp;trk=sem_src.pa-bi_c.bng-lil-sem-b2c-brand-dr-apac-au-lang-en-biz-alpha-desktop-core-brand_pkw.linkedin%20learning_pmt.be_pcrid.80608038666708_pdv.c_trg.kwd-80608137302336:loc-9_net.s_learning&amp;mcid=6626610060271452167&amp;cname=bng-lil-sem-b2c-brand-dr-apac-au-lang-en-biz-alpha-desktop-core-brand&amp;camid=372353831&amp;asid=1289727446682523&amp;targetid=kwd-80608137302336:loc-9&amp;crid=80608038666708&amp;dev=c&amp;ends=1&amp;msclkid=4bba54b9fba91219f07d0a2633aace1e&amp;gclid=COK954-Z--gCFQ6FjgodbvgDqw&amp;gclsrc=ds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LinkedIn Learning<\/a> (formerly Lynda.com), we hope to see more integration of these popular services in the Microsoft 365 suite, especially with MS Outlook.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Google One<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Recently, Google renamed its paid service to\u00a0<strong>Google One<\/strong>\u00a0and offered various plans. Google has equivalent offerings: Gmail, Docs, Drive, Photos, Calendar, Keep Notes, Forms, etc. The free version of Google offers up to 15 GB of storage. With Android phone users backing up their photos, WhatsApp messages, and their phone data to Google Drive, they would soon use up this capacity and may want to consider opting for one of Google\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/one.google.com\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">paid plans<\/a>. The annual plan of Rs 1,300 gets you 100 GB of storage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Both Google and Microsoft are trying to provide more value to subscribers and integrating their apps and services \u2013 unifying them if you will. Pricing plans are also reasonable, with options for monthly or annual billing. Add to this, 24&#215;7 support, reports, tips, and other useful trivia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">We\u2019d like to know how Apple is going to respond to this. It\u2019s been a while since we heard updates about iCloud storage.
